Dawnwalker How to Plan Your Time

A practical workflow for the unofficial 30-day ledger: turn Reported prologue rows and Estimated placeholders into a visible budget, keep day and night wallets honest, and leave room for the choices you have not made yet.

Primary focus: how to plan your time / Time Budget planner workflow.

What this guide covers

What you are budgeting

Dawnwalker Planner uses an estimated fan model: 30 days × (8 day + 8 night) = 480 Time Segments. Those units are a ledger shorthand—not official Action Points. Interactive planner units stay Estimated. Prologue quest and mechanics rows on /time-costs and /quests are a launch-week Reported fill—not in-house Verified.

Prologue 8-segment tips

Before Mass you have about 8 Reported day segments and roughly 13 named quests. You cannot do every hourglass chain. Do zero-cost XP first; finish Withering Away / Esme before Mass; resolve Deep Down before 5 segments have already passed if Lazar matters; do not start a multi-step quest with 1 segment left. Full order: quest order. Full table: quest catalog.

Workflow: catalog to ledger

  1. Open the Time Budget planner and load a preset that matches your intent (story-first, personal leads, or broader exploration). Treat presets as starting shapes, not recommended builds.
  2. Skim the time costs catalog . Reported Prologue / Mechanics rows sit above the legacy Estimated placeholders. Do not treat either tier as Verified retail costs.
  3. Quick-add catalog rows you expect to take, or add a custom line when the catalog has no fit. Tag the phase so one wallet cannot silently overspend.
  4. Protect a contingency buffer (travel, retries, surprise follow-ups). If remaining units drop below that buffer, cut a side chain before you cut the buffer.
  5. Autosave stays in this browser. Use a share URL when you want a snapshot of “what I planned to spend.”

Habits that keep the ledger useful

  • Log a choice as a cost using the Choice → Consequence → Time Cost → Planner chain, instead of waiting until the month is already tight.
  • If night or day sits idle for several days in the plan, retag or swap activities rather than emptying one wallet twice.
  • Revisit Estimated rows after you play. Wrong costs should change status (Estimated → Reported → Verified) with a source—not a silent overwrite presented as fact.
