Blood of Dawnwalker 30-Day Deadline

The campaign month is a pacing problem, not a real-time stopwatch. Below: Reported outcomes when the 30-day timer elapses, then Estimated habits for budgeting Time Segments in the fan planner.

Primary focus: Blood of Dawnwalker 30-day deadline / what happens after.

What this guide covers

What happens after 30 days (Reported)

The timer is tied to saving Coen’s family — not a hard game-over. If you stretch past day 30 before a family rescue ending:

  • Family perish at Brencis’ ceremony; you miss the In the Nick of Time trophy/achievement (VGC; also PowerPyx).
  • You miss the family epilogue chapter after a successful rescue (VGC). PC Gamer endings likewise note the family is dead/absent if the timer ran out.
  • You can keep playing afterward (sandbox mop-up), but family-linked main quests and that epilogue stay unavailable (VGC).
  • After you do rescue them and roll credits, there is no free-roam — make a manual save before the final boss (VGC; PowerPyx side-quest hub).

Court path pacing inside the 30 days (Reported)

Players asking “how much of the month does the story actually eat?” get a clearer answer from PowerPyx’s trophy roadmap than from the Estimated split below:

  • Finishing Court Activities / the three boyar bosses takes about 7–10 in-game days (PowerPyx). You only need roughly ~75% of Court Activities to max anger and unlock each fight.
  • Aim to reach the ending around day 22 so a few days remain for ending-related side lines (PowerPyx). Manual-save before the final quest for ending reloads.
  • Completing all five Sanzhani quests and returning to the leader at Yawning Burrow is Reported to refund 1 in-game day (~16 segments at 8+8) — a rare budget credit, not a free chain (PowerPyx). See the time costs row.
  • Home Sweet Home (Silts Tower door) costs 4 segments to open before the dream loop toward Together Forever — budget it, or skip until after In the Nick of Time is safe (Missables).

Reported from PowerPyx trophy roadmap (Last checked 2026-09-06) — not Verified in-house. Does not replace watching GSC/GA during the freeze window.

Court officer order (Reported)

Players asking “which boyar first?” and “should I split Court tracks?” get a clear first-playthrough rule from ConsolePulse’s route guide (updated 2026-09-06; source-checked, not their own playthrough):

  • Recommended order: Ambrus → Bakir → Xanthe by reported level bands (~1+ / ~20 / ~25). Finish one officer’s anger track and confrontation before pouring time into the next — three half-filled tracks waste the month without unlocking a boss quest (ConsolePulse).
  • Early Ambrus Cellars activities (Seeing Red / Uninvited / Trouble Brewing) are Reported at 1 segment each; most transports / collectors / dungeons and Bakir-listed Court spends land around 3 segments — compare in the time costs catalog and trust the in-game hourglass when it disagrees.
  • Scout / reveal for free before paying; keep a permanent save after each officer confrontation and before the final quest (ConsolePulse; matches VGC/PowerPyx no post-credits free-roam advice).
  • Ambrus budget (Reported): Cellars cost 1 segment each; most transports / collectors / prisoners / dungeons cost 3. You only need about ~10 of 14 Ambrus activities to draw the boss. The Gilded Gauntlet path is about 3 segments (Erdene 1 + night bell 2); optional Bittersweet Toast adds ~ 9–10 and a timed duel window (see Missables). Clearing every listed Ambrus activity + Gilded + Bittersweet is a 58-segment ceiling, not the minimum anger spend (Fextralife Ambrus Court; PowerPyx Gilded Gauntlet).
  • Bakir budget (Reported): listed Headhunters / Transports / Distilleries / Pillories cost 3 segments each. You only need about ~9 of ~12 Bakir activities to draw the boss. The Lunar Game is 6 segments; The Ring ~1–3. Clearing every listed Bakir activity + Lunar + Ring is a ~42-segment ceiling, not the minimum anger spend (Fextralife Bakir Court; PowerPyx Court list).
  • While on Bakir, do not forget A Mother's Plea — a hidden missable Court chain (~4 segments, MetaBot) via Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain (peaceful Uriash entry required — attacking locks the quest out, PowerPyx) → Mother's Plea → Heart Wants. See Missables and time costs.
  • Xanthe budget (Reported): Recruiters / Excavations / Transports / Blood Guards activities cost 3 segments each. You only need about ~12 activities to draw the boss. The Cycle of Love is 4 segments at Howling Keep. Clearing every listed Xanthe activity + Cycle is a 43-segment ceiling, not the minimum anger spend (Fextralife Xanthe Court; PowerPyx Cycle of Love). During the keep visit, loot Cycle of Ruin Manual + Relic of St. Dasius before leaving — see Missables. Unlike Ambrus/Bakir, you may spare Xanthe for alliance (PowerPyx).
  • Ending budget (Reported): after all three boyars + max Infamy, A Deal with the Devil costs 4 segments (night at Shrike's Crag). Manual save before the parley — no free-roam after credits. Sword dialogue options divert to Folk Hero; Turncoat needs Crake through Where Loyalty Lies (PowerPyx Deal with the Devil, updated 2026-09-09).
  • Crake early blue-clocks (Reported, PowerPyx): once The Firebrand hits Go to Stoneward Post, you have 4 days / 64 segments to speak with Mert or he is executed. Shadows in the Woods then gives 2 days / 32 segments to rescue Sara after that objective starts — miss it and the manumit contact fails. These are separate from the 30-day family clock; see Missables and time costs. Sources: The Firebrand; Shadows in the Woods.
  • Companion ending budgets (Reported, PowerPyx 2026-09-08): Rise at Dawn costs 3 segments after Who Pulls the Strings, plus a ≥2-day / 32-segment wait before Marat; PoNR when confirming ready to march. Then Fall Before Dusk costs 1 segment (Knyazmaker day assault; undefeated boyars substitute; Turncoat dialogue if family alive). Midnight Reckoning lists Time Required None but needs a ≥1-day / 16-segment wait after Our Rotten Roots; finish Night of Horrors before confirming with Lacra (PoNR / Patricide). Sources: Rise at Dawn; Fall Before Dusk; Midnight Reckoning.

Why the month still feels tight

A fixed campaign window rewards players who decide early what “enough” looks like. Trying to finish every district tour, romance beat, and faction errand in one pass is how ledgers go red. Our estimated model assumes 480 Time Segments across 30 days—useful for practice, not a promise about official Action Points. Time only advances on hourglass commits (not free exploration) — see how time works.

A simple pacing split (Estimated)

  • ~40% main path — story gates that advance the month’s stakes.
  • ~30% personal / missable-risk — family leads, timers you care about, key relationships.
  • ~20% exploration & sides — districts, hunts, optional chains.
  • ~10% contingency — travel, failures, “I didn’t know that cost two nights.”

Those percentages are Estimated planning hygiene, not Verified retail math. Adjust after your first playthrough.

Week-by-week habits

  1. Days 1–7: learn the day / night split; finish one main beat before opening three side chains. Prologue first — see quest order.
  2. Days 8–15: spend personal leads you care about; keep the contingency buffer intact.
  3. Days 16–23: close or park long side chains; do not start new multi-step arcs casually.
  4. Days 24–30: protect ending preparation; spend leftover units on low-risk cleanup only. Save before the final boss if you want mop-up later.
